in class we were talking about how mothers can now check their embryos for the cystic fibrosis gene (horrible disease, child tends to die young) and choose to abort their child if they wish so and this girl at the back said “oh wow but that’s her child. a human being. what a fucking horrible mum" 

I swear i have never whipped my head round faster to stare and her and tell her about the suffering the child would have to undergo (being drugged all the time just to keep him/her alive and knowing they won’t live a full life) and how traumatic it would be for a mother (to love a child only to see it stop breathing one day).
